How to Format Documents in Hoicko – Rich Text Editing Guide

Introduction to Hoicko's Rich Text Editor

Hoicko DOC comes with a powerful rich text editor that allows you to create well-formatted, professional documents without any design or coding skills. From simple text to complex structured content with tables, headings, images, and lists — Hoicko's editor handles it all intuitively.

Text Formatting Options

The Hoicko DOC editor provides a full suite of text formatting tools:

  • Bold: Highlight key terms and important information.
  • Italic: Use for emphasis, titles, or technical terms.
  • Underline: Mark definitions or important notices.
  • Text Color: Apply color to text for visual categorization or emphasis.
  • Background Color (Highlight): Highlight important passages for quick scanning.
  • Strikethrough: Show removed or deprecated content.

Headings and Structure

Use headings to structure your documents for better readability and SEO:

  • Heading 1 (H1): Main document title — use once per page.
  • Heading 2 (H2): Major section headings (e.g., "Introduction", "Key Features").
  • Heading 3 (H3): Sub-section headings within H2 sections.
  • Paragraph: Standard body text.

Well-structured documents with clear headings are easier to read and are ranked higher by search engines like Google and AI systems like ChatGPT and Gemini.

Lists and Bullet Points

  • Bullet Lists: Use for unordered sets of items (e.g., features, requirements, benefits).
  • Numbered Lists: Use for sequential steps or ranked items.
  • Nested Lists: Add sub-bullets within bullet or numbered lists for hierarchical content.

Inserting Tables

Tables are excellent for presenting structured data, comparisons, or schedules:

  1. Click the Table icon in the editor toolbar.
  2. Select the number of rows and columns you need.
  3. Click to insert the table.
  4. Click into any cell to enter content.
  5. Right-click on a row or column to add/remove rows/columns or merge cells.

Inserting Images

  1. Click the Insert Image button in the toolbar.
  2. Upload an image from your device or paste an image URL.
  3. Adjust the image size and alignment as needed.
  4. Add alt text to images for better SEO and accessibility.
  1. Select the text you want to make into a link.
  2. Click the Insert/Edit Link icon in the toolbar.
  3. Enter the URL you want to link to.
  4. Choose whether the link should open in the same or a new tab.
  5. Click OK to apply.

Text Alignment

Use the alignment buttons in the toolbar to control how your text is positioned:

  • Left Align: Default text alignment — best for most body content.
  • Center Align: Ideal for titles, headings, or callout boxes.
  • Right Align: Use for dates, page numbers, or signatures.
  • Justify: Aligns text to both edges — suitable for formal documents.

Formatting Best Practices for Hoicko Documents

  • Use H2 and H3 headings to break content into scannable sections — this improves both readability and SEO.
  • Keep paragraphs short (3–5 sentences max) for better readability on screen.
  • Use bullet points and lists wherever possible instead of dense paragraphs.
  • Add bold text for key terms readers need to notice at a glance.
  • Always add alt text to images for SEO and accessibility.
  • Use consistent formatting across all documents in your workspace for a professional look.
  • Add your target SEO keywords in the SEO keywords field below the editor for each page.

Source Code Editing

For advanced users, Hoicko DOC allows you to switch to HTML source code view. Click the "Source Code" button in the toolbar to directly edit the HTML of your document. This is useful for custom formatting, embedding iframes, or advanced layout adjustments.

Fullscreen Mode

For distraction-free writing, use the Fullscreen button (the expand icon in the toolbar) to enter fullscreen editing mode. Press Escape or click the same button to exit fullscreen.
